Who created and changed a record

Every record of a Sterodata table keeps who created it, when, who changed it last and when, shown in your own time.

Every table kept in Sterodata has four fields that Sterodata fills in itself, on every record:

FieldWhat it holds
Created byThe person who added the record.
Created atThe date and time it was added.
Updated byThe person who changed it last.
Updated atThe date and time of that last change.

Nobody can type in them or set a default value for them, so they always say what happened.

See them

  1. Open the table and choose Hide Fields.
  2. Click the eye beside the fields you want to show.

To keep them on the grid for everyone, save the layout: see Hide fields and save the layout.

Created at and Updated at are shown in your own time zone, the one your computer or phone is set to, and in the date format of your workspace. A colleague in another country sees the same moment in theirs.

Who counts as the person

  • A change you make in the grid, in a record, by an import or a paste, or through an AI assistant you connected, is yours: the assistant acts as you.
  • A change made by something nobody started at that moment, such as a scheduled automation or an integration's scheduled sync, is signed System.
  • Someone who later leaves the workspace keeps their name on the records they made.

Use them

They work like any other field in the toolbar:

  • Filter on Created by with Me to see the records you added, or on Updated at with is after to see what changed since Monday.
  • Sort by Updated at, newest first, to see the latest changes at the top.
  • Group by Created by to count each person's records.

Sterodata keeps only the last change of a record, not its history. You can see who changed a record last and when, but not what it held before.
