Documentation Tables and records
Hide fields and save the layout
Show only the columns you need, put them in your order, and make your filter, sort, grouping and columns what everyone sees.
A table often has more fields than one person needs at once. Hiding a field takes its column off the grid; the field and its values stay.
Hide and order fields
- Choose Hide Fields in the toolbar. A panel lists every field.
- Click the eye beside a field to hide it or show it again.
- Drag a field up or down the list to move its column.
- Click outside the panel to apply the changes.
To hide one column quickly, open its ⋮ menu and choose Hide field.
Four fields start hidden in every table: Created by, Created at, Updated by and Updated at. Show them here to see who made and changed each record.
When you may not read some fields of a table, the panel says so at the foot, for example 2 of 14 columns are restricted for you. Those fields are not listed at all. See Access and permissions.
Your view and the table's default
What you change in the grid applies to your screen: hidden fields and their order, Filter, Sort, Group, and the look you set in Design. As soon as it differs from the table's saved layout, the toolbar's ⋮ offers two more entries:
- Save layout as default makes your layout the one everyone sees when they open the table. It is offered to people who may change the table's fields.
- Revert layout takes you back to the saved layout.
Save a layout when a table is mostly read one way: open orders first, grouped by customer, with the columns the team uses. Everyone can still filter, sort and hide fields for themselves afterwards.
Search is never saved with the layout. A filter saved on a person field with Me shows each reader their own records.
