Pages and dashboards

What a page is, how to make one under Pages, and what each page in this section explains.

A page is a screen you build on top of your tables and send to people. It is one of two things:

  • A dashboard: numbers, charts, lists and filters that read your tables and views. A price list for customers, an order board for the warehouse, a sales overview for the managers.
  • A form: questions people answer, which write records into your tables. Forms have their own section: see Forms.

Pages live under Pages in the top bar, not inside a database. A page belongs to the workspace, so one page can show a table from the built-in database beside a view of a PostgreSQL database you connected.

Make a page

  1. Open Pages in the top bar and choose New page.
  2. Pick what the page is for:
    • Catalogue: cards with a photo, a title and a price, with search and categories on top.
    • List: rows someone reads, such as a price list, stock or order status.
    • Numbers and charts: totals and trends for the people who decide.
    • Form: collect an order, a request or an answer into your tables.
    • Blank: start from nothing.
  3. Choose the table it shows. The dialog draws the page on a phone from the table's first rows, so you see the result before it exists.
  4. Under Name it, give it a name, then choose Create page.

The page opens filled in, as a draft. Nobody but its editors can open it until you publish it. You change anything afterwards in the page editor: see Build a dashboard.

A page shows what a table holds, so the workspace needs at least one table first. Pages made by an app you install, or by an AI assistant you connected, are ordinary pages: you open and change them the same way.

The page list

Each page in the list under Pages says where it stands: Not published yet, Published, Published · changes not published or Paused. Its editors also see how often it was opened and when last; a form shows how many responses it has.

The menu under a page's title (the ▾ beside its name) holds what you do to it: Edit, Publish… (or Publish changes…, or Link and access… once it is out), Rename and Delete. Renaming changes the name people read, never the page's address, so links you have sent keep working. Deleting removes the page for everyone it was shared with; the tables it reads are not touched.

The menu offers only what you may do. Editing a page, deleting it, deciding who can open it and making new pages are separate permissions, given by roles: see Access.

In this section

For a worked example from an empty workspace to a published dashboard, read How to build a dashboard on your database.

In this section

  • Build a dashboardThe page editor, the elements you can add to a dashboard, and every setting each one has.
  • ListsThe List element: a table, a list or cards of records, which fields they show, how they open, and what readers may do with them.
  • Filters and chart clicksA filter bar narrows every number, chart and list on a page at once; a click on a bar or a slice narrows it too.
  • Record pagesLet readers open one record from a list: a product with its photo, price and details, at an address you can send.
  • Publish a pageChoose who can open a page (the public, a private link, or members), its address, a date it stops, and how to pause it or publish changes.
  • Your brand on shared pagesPut your logo and colour on every page and form you share, and see what a link looks like when it is sent in a chat.
  • Pages on a phoneHow a page rearranges itself on a phone, and how to check it in the editor before you send it.
