Record pages

Let readers open one record from a list: a product with its photo, price and details, at an address you can send.

A record page is what a reader gets when they tap one card or row of a List: one product, one order, one property, with its photo large, its name, its amount in large print, then each of its other fields as a label and a value. It is read-only. It belongs to the List and goes out with the page; you do not publish it separately.

Turn it on

  1. In the editor, select the List.
  2. On its Data tab, set Clicking a card (or Clicking a row) to Opens its page.
  3. A new row appears under the List on the left, such as "A product’s page", marked "opens on tap". Select it.
  4. Set Found by: the field a record is opened by. Pick one whose value is different for every record, such as a product code or SKU. Until you pick one, the record's title is used.
  5. Under The page also shows, tick any fields the record page should show beyond what the card already shows.

Set it back to Does nothing to turn record pages off.

What readers get

On a computer, the record opens as a sheet from the right edge over the list. On a phone, it takes the whole screen with a button back to the list. Either way, closing it returns the reader to exactly where they were in the list.

The record is named in the page's address by the value of its Found by field, never by an internal number, so a reader can copy the address and send someone that one product. If two records share the same value, the record page cannot open and says that more than one item has this code: choose a field that is unique.

An order button at the end

When the page's header has a main button that opens a form, every record page ends in a full-width button pinned at the bottom, where a customer who has just read the price decides. It reads Order this unless you change it: select that header button and write its label under Record page. Pressing it opens the form with that record already on its first line.

See Build a dashboard for header buttons, and Forms for the form behind it.

What it sends

A record page reads only the List's columns and the fields you ticked under The page also shows. Once the page has been published, its Publish sheet lists the record page under Goes with it, with the line "Opens from each card · goes out with this page".
