Commission plan

The Commission plan app: payees on a quota and a rate, credited sales, a statement per payee, and a role that lets each payee see only their own.

The Commission plan app, version 2.0.0, works out what each payee earns on the sales credited to them. Each payee has a quota and a commission rate. When a sale is credited, the payee's rate and quota at that moment are copied onto it, so changing someone's terms later never reprices money already earned. Every amount is exact to the cent. It opens on Transactions. The worked example is How to run sales commission without disputes.

What it installs

NameKindWhat it holds
ParticipantsTableEach payee: Name, Person (a User field: the member who is this payee), Quota (in EUR) and Commission Rate.
TransactionsTableEach credited sale: Date, Customer, Product, Amount (in EUR) and Participant (a Linked record to Participants). Four fields fill themselves: Rate and Quota, copied from the participant; Commission, Amount multiplied by Rate; and Attainment, Amount divided by Quota.
Statement ArchiveTableA plain table for keeping each period's figures: Period, Participant (as text), Total Sales, Quota and Total Commission. Nothing fills it for you.
StatementSummaryPer participant: Total Sales, Quota and Total Commission, the largest commission first. A note under it explains the rounding.
My LinesViewThe transactions credited to whoever is reading: those whose participant's Person is them, newest first.
My StatementSummaryThe Statement of My Lines: the reader's own totals.
PayeeRoleReads My Lines and My Statement, and nothing else in the workspace.

How the copied rate works

Rate and Quota on a transaction are copied from its participant when the transaction is added, and again if you move it to another participant. Editing anything else on it leaves them as they are, and nobody can type into them. Commission is worked out from the copy, and each line's commission is rounded to the cent. That is why multiplying a payee's total sales by their rate can differ by a few cents from Total Commission: the lines are what is paid.

Sample rows

With Include sample rows on, it writes 3 payees and 24 transactions dated August 2026. The sample payees have no Person, so My Lines shows them to nobody.

Use it

  1. Add each payee to Participants with their Quota and Commission Rate.
  2. Add each sale to Transactions, with its Participant. Rate, Quota, Commission and Attainment fill in.
  3. Read Statement for every payee's totals.
  4. To let payees see their own figures, invite each one into the Payee role (see Invite your team). Once they have joined, choose them as the Person on their row in Participants. They then see My Lines and My Statement, and no one else's.
  5. When someone's terms change, change their Commission Rate or Quota in Participants. Only sales credited from then on use the new terms.

Statement and My Statement have no period: they total every transaction, whatever its date. Past periods are kept only if you enter their figures in Statement Archive.

Attainment on a line is that line's amount divided by the quota, not the payee's attainment for a period. The plan is one flat rate per payee: tiers, accelerators, split credit and clawbacks are not part of it. Tiered commission with accelerators, splits and clawbacks builds those.
