Documentation Workspace settings

Delete a workspace

Move a workspace to the trash, restore it before its purge date, or delete it for good now, and what is destroyed when it goes.

Deleting a workspace takes two steps. It goes to the trash first, where nothing is destroyed and it can be restored. It is destroyed only when its purge date passes, or when you delete it for good from the trash.

Move it to the trash

  1. Open your workspaces list, at app.sterodata.com/workspaces.
  2. Choose Delete workspace, the bin on the workspace's row.
  3. Choose Move to Trash.

The bin shows only on workspaces you created, which the list marks Owner. Deleting is not in Settings.

The workspace disappears for every member at once. Its tables, pages and share links stop opening, and its scheduled syncs and automations stop running. The message that confirms it says the date until which it can be restored, and offers View trash.

Restore it

  1. On your workspaces list, choose Trash in the top bar.
  2. Choose Restore beside the workspace.

It comes back as it was, and its schedules run again. Each entry in the trash says how long is left, such as Purges in 12 days with the date, unless restored.

Delete it for good now

  1. In Trash, choose Delete forever beside the workspace.
  2. Read what will be destroyed, and type the workspace's name to confirm.
  3. Choose Delete forever.

When the purge date passes

A workspace stays in the trash for 30 days. The purge date is fixed on the day you delete it. A job that runs every night, at 03:30 UTC, then destroys every workspace whose date has passed.

What is destroyed

  • Every table, field, record, view, summary, page and form, with its answers.
  • Its members, roles, grants, invitations and share links, and the record kept of changes to its access.
  • The database file that holds all its records.
  • The files attached to its records and the files uploaded to it.
  • The passwords and keys stored for its connected databases and services, and its schedules.

Deleting for good cannot be undone, and there is no way in the app to bring a workspace back from a backup. Copies in Sterodata's backups are not edited; they age out on their own schedule (see Backups).

Members of a deleted workspace keep their Sterodata accounts and their other workspaces.
