Forms on a phone
How a form fills a phone screen, picks from long lists, and keeps answers through a bad connection.
Most people fill in a shared form on a phone, often over a weak connection. A form needs no phone version: the same form takes the whole screen on a phone, and you check it in the builder before you publish.
What the person gets
- The whole screen: the form is white from edge to edge, with your logo and name over its title.
- Send at the bottom: the Send button stays at the foot of the screen while the questions scroll, with the number of lines above the total beside it. A long button label wraps rather than squeezing the total.
- A card per line: a section of lines always shows each line as a card on a phone, whatever Lines as says for a computer.
- Long lists as a sheet: picking from many products opens a full-height sheet with a search that answers as they type, a row per choice with its picture, and a + that adds a choice without closing the sheet. Products sent from the same phone before come first, under "You ordered before".
- Answers kept on the phone: what they type is kept on the phone until they send it. If they put the phone down and open the link again later, their answers come back, the form says when they were last typed, and Start over clears them. If the connection drops at Send, the form says it was not sent, keeps the answers, and sends nothing twice.
- Opened from a page: a form that a page's button opens as a panel or a popup opens as a sheet over the page on a phone.
Check it before you publish
- In the builder, choose Phone at the top to see the form at a phone's width while you build it.
- Try it as a customer lets you fill it in as a person outside the team would, writing nothing.
- Then open the published link on your own phone.
The builder itself needs a computer's screen. On a phone, you can fill a form in, read its Responses and open a response, but not change the form.
