Who changed what

Every record in the built-in database shows who created it, who last changed it and when, and the trash shows who deleted each table and field.

Each table in your workspace's built-in database carries four fields that Sterodata fills in itself. Nobody can type into them.

FieldWhat it holds
Created byThe person who added the record.
Created atWhen it was added.
Updated byThe person who changed it last.
Updated atWhen it was last changed.

Show them

The four fields start hidden. Open the table, choose Hide Fields, and switch on the ones you want to see.

A change made by an assistant carries the name of the person who connected it. A change made by a guest, through a link or a public form, carries the generated name Sterodata gave them (see Guests without an account).

Created by and Updated by are person fields, so you can filter on them. A filter of Updated by on Me shows the records you changed last; a view filtered on Created by shows each person what they added (see Show each person only their own rows).

Only the latest change is kept on a record. Updated by and Updated at say who changed it last and when, not what was changed or who changed it before.

Sterodata does not add these fields to tables read from a connected PostgreSQL or MySQL database, because it never writes to them.

Deleted records

When you delete records, a message says how many rows were deleted and offers Undo for about 12 seconds. Choose it to put them back.

After that message has gone, the app has no place to restore deleted records from.

Deleted tables and fields

A deleted table, with its records, or a deleted field, with its values, goes to the trash of its database:

  1. In the Data sidebar, choose ⋮ (More actions) above the list of tables.
  2. Choose Trash.

Each entry says when it was deleted, who deleted it, and the day it will be deleted for good, 30 days after it was deleted. Restore puts it back as it was. If something with the same name has been made since, rename that first.

A deleted workspace has a trash of its own: see Delete a workspace.
