Tell someone
A step that tells a role or a person, under the bell in the app and by e-mail: a new order tells the staff, with no outside service.
Tell someone is a step that sends a message. Add it to any automation: a new order tells the staff, a form's answer tells whoever handles it, a record that comes to match tells its owner.
Who it tells
Under To, add roles and people, by typing their name. A role means everyone who holds it when the run happens, so someone who joins the role is told from then on.
To tell whoever a record names, choose Add the person in a field and pick the field: a person field, or an e-mail field.
Only members of the workspace can be told. Whatever a record says, this step sends nothing to anyone outside it, so a public form cannot be used to mail strangers. To send a customer a copy of what they sent, use a form's copy.
What it says
Write a Title and a Message. Add a field puts a value of the record in the words, drawn as {Table}. If the field is renamed, the message keeps working.
Where it arrives
The message waits under the bell, at the top of every screen of the workspace. Opening it takes you to the table it is about. It keeps the words it was sent with, whatever happens to the record afterwards.
With Also by e-mail, which is on unless you turn it off, it goes to each person's e-mail as well.
A person gets at most 30 of these e-mails an hour, and a workspace 300. The last one says so; the rest are still under the bell. A person keeps their newest 200 messages.
If nobody can be told
When nobody holds the role, or the people named have left the workspace, the step fails and the run says why. By default, the steps after it still run.
See it before it happens
On an automation a record starts, Try it shows what the newest record, or one you pick, would do: who would be told, and in what words. Nothing is written or sent.
