What is recorded
Whose name the changes an assistant makes carry, which of them Sterodata's audit trail ties to the assistant, and what is kept about each connection.
An assistant works as the person who connected it, so what it does is recorded the way that person's own work is.
On records
Every record shows who created it and who last changed it. A record an assistant adds or changes shows the name of the person who connected it, the same as if they had done it in the app. The record does not name the assistant.
In the audit trail
Sterodata keeps an audit trail of the changes that move a boundary:
- the workspace's URL key, Allow public (unauthenticated) access and Allow self-join;
- sharing given, withdrawn, or given an end date;
- a table or a field deleted, restored, or removed for good from the trash;
- an assistant's connection ended by a workspace admin.
Each entry names the person who made the change. When the change came through an assistant, the entry also names the assistant, as it introduced itself, and the connection it came through, so a table deleted by ChatGPT can be told apart from one deleted in the app.
The app does not show the audit trail. It is kept by Sterodata. Edits to records are not in it; they show on the records themselves, as above.
About each connection
- Under Connected assistants in your account menu, each assistant you connected, and when it was last used.
- For a workspace admin, under Settings, General, Access, Connected assistants: every assistant a member has connected, who connected it, and when it was last used.
The time of last use is updated at most every few minutes, not on every request.
Sterodata does not receive your conversation with the assistant, only the requests it makes. See Permissions and safety.
