Documentation Security and your data
Export your data
Download any table or view as a CSV or Excel file, with the rows and fields you can see in it, up to 50,000 rows per file.
You can take your data out of Sterodata at any time, one table or view at a time, as a CSV file or an Excel workbook.
Export a table or view
- Open the table or view.
- Set it up as you want the file: a filter for the rows, Hide Fields for the columns.
- Open the toolbar's ⋮ menu and choose Export CSV or Export Excel.
The file is downloaded by your browser and named after the table. It holds the view as it is on your screen, with the field names as column headings, including Created by, Updated by and the dates if you have shown them.
An export holds only what you may see. If your access is limited to some fields of a table, the file has only those fields.
Size
A file holds at most 50,000 rows, and about 6 MB. If a table is larger, you get the first part, and a message says how many rows were exported and that you can filter the view to export the rest. Export the rest in parts with a filter, such as one year at a time.
Other ways out
- A table on a page can be exported the same way, from the page.
- A connected assistant can read your tables for you, as far as your own access goes (see Assistants).
- Tables read from a connected PostgreSQL or MySQL database stay in that database; Sterodata does not hold a copy of them.
There is no export of a whole workspace in one step. Export each table you need, one by one.
